Ο James Basdanis ή Δημήτρης Μπασδάνης είναι ένας κιθαρίστας, που του αρέσει να κινείται αισθητικώς σε πολλούς και διαφόρους χώρους. Το rock μπορεί να είναι, γενικώς, ένα τέτοιος χώρος, αλλά δεν είναι ο μόνος και ενδεχομένως να μην είναι ούτε ο κυρίαρχος.
Το λέμε, γιατί παρά το εν γένει ηλεκτρικό πνεύμα των ηχογραφήσεων του Μπασδάνη, στο “Cosmos ’n’ Duniyas” (Κόσμος και Ντουνιάς), που είναι το πιο νέο άλμπουμ του, οι ethnic επιρροές-αναφορές, μα και οι jazz ακόμη ή και οι blues, είναι και σαφείς και προφανείς.

"Στα δέκα κομμάτια πρωταγωνιστεί η κιθάρα του, αλλά τα jazz/fusion μονοπάτια γεμίζουν και με ήχους από κλαρινέτο, κανονάκι και ακορντεόν, χωρίς να ακούγονται καθόλου στίχοι. Οι ενοργανώσεις είναι πλούσιες και με προσεγγίσεις που φλερτάρουν με στοιχεία ανατολικής μουσικής, μαζί με ξεκάθαρες αναφορές σε βαλκανικά στοιχεία, παραδοσιακές ελληνικές μελωδίες όπως αυτή του Στο 'πα Και Στο Ξαναλέω που περνάει με το κλαρίνο πάνω από το drum machine στο "Firtina"."
